This piece depicts the Statue of Liberty in cross-section, juxtaposing the expressive, classical exterior imagery of the statue with the rigid engineering structures of its framework and the spiral staircase leading into its head. A frontal isometric projection was chosen for this work to establish a strictly diagonal direction for the composition.
The original drawing was entirely hand-crafted using the classical ink wash technique.
